Huntsville Section had a lot of fun and great participation in various educational events in which IEEE participates last year. We are looking forward to these events coming up in the first few months of this year:
- North Alabama Regional Science & Engineering Fair (NARSEF) - regional science fair for junior & senior high students. This year's competition was Thursday, March 4th-6th, 2009, at UAH Spragins Hall Gymnasium. IEEE judges and presented eight special awards to recipients in science & engineering disciplines, four certificates and $100 savings bonds in junior high, and four in senior high. Huntsville Section volunteers helped judge our IEEE awards. Additionally, this year we are Engineering Category sponsor for the science fair. The URL for NARSEF is: http://narsef.uah.edu/.
- Alabama Consortium on Technology in Education (ACTE) - state wide K-12 competition in a broad spectrum of technical disciplines, held the Alabama Northwest Regional Technology Fair this year on Friday, March 27th, at the Von Braun Center, preceded by the ACTE Team Programming Challenge (TPE) on the evening of March 26th at Randolph School. IEEE typically provides 2-4 event judges for this competition, discussed in another article. POC: Sylvia Dean, Jones Valley Elementary School. - Alabama Science & Engineering Fair (ASEF) - the state science fair, Friday, April 2nd-4th, at UAH Spragins Hall Gymnasium. IEEE judges and presented eight special awards to recipients in science & engineering disciplines, four certificates and $100 savings bonds in junior high, and four in senior high.
