The Educational Activities Committee will be very busy during March and early April. Volunteers from the Section judged special awards categories at the North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF) held at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).  The Section will also provide judges for the Alabama State Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF), which is scheduled to be held at UAH during April 2007. Science fair awards include a certificate and $100 Savings Bond for 4 Junior and 4 Senior projects in each fair. The Section was a Category Sponsor for the NARSEF and will also be a category sponsor for the ASEF.  Section representatives will participate in judging the Alabama Council for Technology in Education (ACTE) programming contests on March 27th and other ACTE events at the VBC on March 28th.  Please contact Frank Parris if you are interested in volunteering for these events. Also see Frank’s article on the Section’s Science Fair Awardees at the NARSEF.

The UAH Student Branch is busy preparing for the IEEE SoutheastCon 2007 Student Hardware Competition to be held in Richmond, VA on March 24th.  Members of the Section’s ExCom will also attend the Conference. The SoutheastCon 2008 committee is preparing for this event in Huntsville April 4-6, 2008. This committee meets the second Tuesday of the month. Please contact Eric Grigorian if you are interested in getting involved.

Please see our Society meeting announcements. Many of you are eligible for elevation to Senior Member. Please contact our Membership Committee or Woody Williams to get the process started today.

Please visit the UAH Professional Development link in our announcement section.  Also make a special note that we will hold the April ExCom at Alabama A&M University (AAMU) on April 4, 2007 in the Engineering and Technology building, Dean’s Conference Room, R-229 (second floor). We will conduct an abbreviated business meeting and allow time for a tour of some of the AAMU Engineering Labs. Please plan to attend!!.
