IEEE Senior Member Update

We encourage all Huntsville Section members to help identify those who should be recognized, including self-nominations. Contact anyone on the Membership Committee or Executive Committee for further information and help in initiating and following through with the nomination process. We congratulate Dr. Bill Atkinson of The Boeing Company, who was elevated to IEEE Senior Member by the August 2006 Selection Panel that convened in Philadelphia.

To provide further incentives for Senior Member growth, Region 3 is sponsoring a Section Senior Member Contest. The Section that gets the most new Senior Members approved this year will win $100 and the Section that gets the most new Senior Members approved (as a percentage of their Section Member count, not including Students) will win $100. Hopefully these additional incentives will increase the challenge and the fun of this important IEEE activity.

IEEE has given Region 3 a goal of 209 new Senior Members for 2006. As of June, 95 new Senior Members have been approved. That's only 45.5% of the goal. November 3 is the absolute deadline for the submission of our nominations. Please don't wait until the last minute since there are only four more Admission & Advancement Committee meetings left this year (August 12, September, Oct, November 18).
