The IEEE International Conference on RFID 2007 -- IEEE RFID 2007 -- is the first in a series of annual conferences dedicated to addressing the technical and policy challenges in the areas of radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies, their supporting large-scale distributed information systems, and their applications. The IEEE RFID series serves as the premier international forum addressing technologies, systems, networks, algorithms, and applications that support the development and adoption of RF-based wireless communications and identification systems.
RFID systems draw upon multiple diverse fields of study, including electromagnetic theory, wireless communication and networking, antenna theory and design, analog and digital VLSI design and manufacturing, embedded systems, distributed systems and database design and management, materials science, and the specific fields necessary to effectively apply RFID systems within specific applications.
IEEE RFID 2007 is a highly selective conference focusing on wireless identification and sensing systems, technical and policy-related research and solutions on the technologies, design, manufacture, deployment, and application of RFID systems and their supporting information systems and application infrastructures. This conference is ideal for addressing the challenges facing the design, manufacture, deployment, use, and fundamental limits of RFID systems.
PAPERS: Papers highlighting cross-disciplinary research are encouraged. The IEEE RFID 2007 Program Committee will referee all papers. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Authors are invited to submit full papers presenting new research, innovations, and implementations related to the theory and practice of RFID systems, sensor technologies, and related information system support. All submissions must describe original work not previously published or currently under review for publication in another conference or journal. Papers are due Nov. 17, 2006.
Topic areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Antennas and Propagation:: Tag antenna theory and designs, reader antenna designs, channel measurements and modeling
Circuits, Devices, and Sensors: Building block system components, integrated sensors, energy harvesting, low-power design, non-silicon-based structures
RFID System Architecture and Implementation: Novel system designs for tags, modulation and detection, reader system architecture, software defined radio, scalable deployment technologies
Deployment: Reader deployment and operation, ranging and localization, reader synchronization and regulatory compliance
Security: Tag features for security, system security solutions
Policy and Regulatory Issues: Spectral management, data access and privacy issues, co-existence of RFID systems, government oversight, social implications of RFID technology
Application Issues & Concerns: EMC/RF radiation, testing, reliability, interoperability; issues in patient safety, system-on-a-chip, frequency
PANELS: Panels are invited that examine innovative, controversial, or otherwise provocative issues of interest. Proposals should not exceed 3 pages, including biographical sketches of the potential panelists. Potential panel organizers should contact the General Chair, General Vice Chair, or the Program Chair. Panel proposals are due by December 15, 2006.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Complete manuscripts (no longer than 8 pages) in PDF format must be electronically submitted for review in IEEE standard format.
