The Huntsville IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Society chapter had a very successful one-day seminar on July 11: “The Fundamentals of EMC” with speaker Dr. Clayton Paul of Mercer University. There were over 150 attendees and 28 vendors exhibiting their products and services. This event was held at the Von Braun Center.
We will close out the year with a technical meeting on 21 September and a business meeting on 12 October.
Please check the chapter website for more information on these and future events: http://ewh.ieee.org/r3/huntsville/emc/
The chapter is hosting an IEEE EMC Society Distinguished Lecturer on 21 September: Dr. David Hockanson of Sun Microsystems, Inc. The session will begin at 5:30 pm with a catered meal. Dr. Hockanson’s talk will begin at 6 pm and last 1.5-2 hours.
Dr. Hockanson’s topic will be “CSI: Compliance System Investigation”. The world of EMC/EMI debug has long been shrouded by a consideration that there must be some "black magic" associated with eliminating system compliance issues. Using physics and signal analysis, logically developed solutions can be determined to facilitate EMC/EMI containment and/or mitigation. This talk will facilitate a discussion on the tools and methods of solving radiated emissions issues arising during testing.
We will hold the meeting at the ADTRAN campus, 5th Floor Bridge Training Room between the North and South Towers.
NOTE: This is a different location than our usual East Tower meeting place. The directions are included below.
The EMC Chapter will cater and serve a free meal, but you must RSVP to Paul Stover (paul.stover@adtran.com) by close of business 15 September to be included in the meal count.
I hope to see you there!
