Hello Everyone,
We have been delinquent in delivering a regular newsletter and will try to publish future issues more predictably.
I am pleased to report a few successes the IEEE has had recently. The first in a series of successful meetings was the GOLD meeting in April. The topic was “An Introduction to Radar”, presented by Mr. Earl Reed of deciBel Research. This meeting was very well attended (about 70) and for the first time in a while we had to turn away attendees due to space. Thanks to Rick and Jessica King and Jeff Cotten for pulling it together.
The EMC Society held it’s inaugural “Tabletop Event” with Dr. Clayton Paul presenting an Electromagnetic Compatibility Tutorial at the VBC earlier this month. This event was a huge success. There was a full house with 150 attendees and almost 30 vendors. The Section also had a booth to help promote membership. Thanks to Glenn Shelby, Paul Stover, and the entire Committee for putting this great event together. I am looking forward to next year’s event.
The Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society held a meeting with Dr. Bob Berinato presenting on “The Future of Radar” at Ryan’s in May. We also had to turn away reservations for this event due to space. We had an additional treat that Ron Ogan from the AESS Board of Governors came over from Mississippi to discuss membership at the event. He also brought AESS magazines and tutorials for all. Thanks to Buddy Bishop for putting this great event together as well!
We show a membership increase in the latest membership reports as well. We would like to congratulate our 2 newest SectionSenior Members and anticipate there are others on the way. The most recent Senior Members inductees are Glenn Parker from Georgia Tech Research Institute and Bill English, who works for the U.S. Army at the AMRDEC Software Engineering Directorate.
