The Awards Committee is soliciting nominations for the Huntsville Section 2006 Professional of the Year (POY) Award. This award, consisting of a plaque and two tickets to the presentation banquet, will be given at a HATS-sponsored activity in June.
POY differs from other awards sponsored by the Huntsville Section in that the recipient does NOT have to be an IEEE member. Historically we have recognized individuals who have made a major contribution to the Huntsville electrotechnology community over a long period of time. These contributions may have been either through industrial leadership, professional society/community service, or some combination of these. Previous recipients have included:
Jim Anderson (2005, 1999)
Eric Grigorian (2004)
Tom Houser (2003)
Dr. Marc Bendickson (2002)
Mark Smith (2001)
Roy Nichols (2000)
Troy Gilmore (1998)
Irv Krulac (1997)
Steve Hettinger (1996)
Willy Albanes (1995)
If you have someone to nominate for this award, please send their name, proposed short citation, and a one-page bio to any of the awards committee members by 1 May 2006. The committee consists of the following members:
Will Preussel (willard.preussel@dynetics.com)
Eric Grigorian (egrigorian@ieee.org)
Woody Williams (woody@imagefactorsouth.com)
The biographical material is particularly important, because it is used by the members of the ExCom to guide their selection decision and also in composing LiveWire articles about the award.
