The IEEE Huntsville Section Educational Activities Committee helped judge the 2006 Alabama Council for Technology in Education (ACTE) Northwest Regional Technology Fair held on March 28-29, 2006. The ACTE Technology Fair includes the following project categories: General Applications, Hardware/Robotics, Web Page Design, Multimedia Applications, Video Production, and Programming, the Team Programming Challenge, and the Information Technology Test.

ACTE held the Team Programming Challenge on Tuesday, March 28th at Randolph High School. Jim Covington, Willie Fitzpatrick, and Bob Robinson judged student teams after they finished four problems of varied mathematical complexity. The students interpreted the problem statements and solved them within a two hour timed competition, selecting their programming language, operating system, and hardware. They programmed in Visual Basic, Java, and C++ on Windows and Macintosh platforms.
