Joint Chapter of the Communications, APS, and MTT Societies (JCAM)
Dr. Hans Schantz, JCAM Chair

The IEEE JCAM Society will hold a Brown Bag Lunch Meeting Thursday, March 30 at 11am at the BizTech Center on 515 Sparkman Drive. The topic will be "Near Field Electromagnetic Ranging," presented by Dr. Hans Schantz, Q-Track Corporation. Officer elections and planning for future meetings will also be on the agenda.

Abstract: Near-field electromagnetic ranging (NFER[TM]) technology provides a novel real time locating system that excels in complicated indoor propagation environments. Operating in the near-field region within about a third of a wavelength, this technology uses the near-field properties of long wavelength signals to achieve tracking accuracies within 1m at ranges up to 70m. This talk will present the basics of NFER technology, include a live demonstration of Q-Track's prototype system operating in the BizTech building, and include a tour of Q-Track's RF laboratory.
