Master of Ceremonies, Judy Wilson

The master of ceremonies for the evening's events was Judy Wilson, a member of the Society of American Military Engineers. She is a retired Public Affairs Officer for the US Army Corps of Engineers. Her twenty-three years of service as an Army civilian also include tours as a Senior Writer for PS Magazine, the Army's preventive maintenance comic book; and as managing editor of Flightfax, an aviation safety magazine published at Fort Rucker, Alabama, Currently she lives in Limestone County and does public relations and community consulting, Her e-mail address is: judywilsondist5@aol.com

The North Alabama Section of SWE was established in 1989 wih 20 charter members. During the past 17 years, we have supported the UAH student chapter and other local technical organizations, In addition, we have conducted many educational outreach programs; such as a Girl Scout engineering badge day, a summer program for middle schoolers and numerous school visits. We have members from the many facets of engineering; as well as local industry, national government and state agencies and educational institutions.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Sherri Messimer

Sherri L Messimer is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Engineering Student Affairs in the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She received the BSIE and MSIE degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1980 and 1984, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Texas A&M University.

As Associate Dean, she is responsible for advising, recruiting, and retention of undergraduate students in the College of Engineering, She is also active in the Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management Department, where she teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in manufacturing systems analysis and probability and statistics, Her research interests include process control strategies for the control of electronic assembly operations in low ppm defect processes, She is an active member of IE and serves as the Faculty Advisor to the newly formed Engineers without Borders Chapter at UAH.
