The Computer Society plans exciting meetings for March and April, and would like to invite all members and others from the technical community to join us.

March Meeting

On March 21st, Boeing engineer Jim Milstead will describe an approach to web security using ASP.NET web services. Jim recently returned from a Boeing-wide 2006 Application Security Roundtable in Seattle, where he discussed state-of-the-art computer security techniques with other corporate IT professionals. April Meeting

On April 4th, the Huntsville Computer Society will host Distinguished Speaker Dr. Krishna Kavi, visiting speaker and Chairman of Computer Science and Engineering department at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Dr. Kavi will speak on "A Billion Transistor Chips -- how to garner the silicon real-estate for improved performance", related to ongoing research at the University of North Texas.

Dr. Krishna Kavi is currently a professor and the Chairman of Computer Science and Engineering department at the University of North Texas. Previously he held the Eminent Scholar Chair professorship at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a professorship at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was a Scientific Program Director at the US National Science Foundation between 1993-1995.

His research interests are primarily in the various aspects of Computer Architecture. He also conducted research on formal methods for the design and verification of software systems, agent-based formalisms, performance and reliability analyses of computer systems using Petri nets. He authored or co-authored more than 150 technical publications.
