Chair's Corner

Hello Everyone,

This past month, the 2006 Engineer’s Week Banquet was held at the Huntsville Marriott. We recognized our members for their contributions to the Engineering Profession in the following categories:

Outstanding ServiceWayne Wolf
Outstanding UAH Student Branch MemberJoshua Eliser
Outstanding Alabama A&M Student Branch Member     Ebonee Walker

Additionally, we recognized Dr. C.D. Johnson for over 40 years of contributions to Controls Engineering.

The Educational Activities Committee will be very busy during March and early April. The Section will judge for special awards at the North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF) and Alabama State Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF), and Section representatives will judge the ACTE programming contests at Randolph School on March 28th and other ACTE events at the VBC on March 29th. Science fair awards include a certificate and $100 Savings Bond for 4 Junior and 4 Senior projects in each fair. Contact Frank Parris if you are interested in supporting these events.

The UAH Student Branch is busy preparing for the IEEE SoutheastCon Student Hardware Competition to be held in Memphis March 31. They plan a demonstration of the UAH robot on April 5 at UAH EB258. Members of the ExCom will also be attending the Conference. The SoutheastCon 2008 committee is preparing for this event in Huntsville April 4-6, 2008. This committee meets the second Tuesday of the month. Please contact me if you are interested in getting involved.
