In an effort to recognize IEEE member's technical and professional excellence, boost member participation in the technical community, and promote membership development, Huntsville Section is taking an active role in the IEEE Senior Membership Initiative. Woody Williams, Membership Chair, and committee members Will Preussel and Bob Robinson are leading this Section effort.
The IEEE Senior Member Initiative relies upon Section and Society members to identify and nominate qualified Members for Senior Member grade. The "Nominate a Senior Member Initiative" part of the Senior Member Program provides financial incentives to Sections and Societies who nominate qualified members from their respective entities for Senior Member grade.
Becoming an IEEE Senior Member is a major achievement in a member's professional career. Senior Membership offers several benefits to individual members:
· Professional recognition of your peers for technical and professional excellence.
· Attractive wood and bronze engraved Senior Member plaque.
· $25.00 gift certificate toward one new Society membership.
· Letter of commendation to employer on your elevation to Senior Member grade (upon request of newly elected Senior Member.)
· Announcement of elevation in Section/Society and/or local newsletters, newspapers, and notices.
· Eligibility to hold executive IEEE volunteer positions.
· Eligibility as Reference for Senior Member applicants.
· Invitation to be on panel to review Senior Member applications.
· Nominations for IEEE fellow require that the candidate holds Senior Member grade at time of nomination submission.
Membership chair Woody Williams or other members of the Section Membership committee can help you:
· Identify three or more Sr. Members or Fellows in the Huntsville Section who are willing to serve as references and promote your qualifications.
· Develop a Section nomination for the applicant, work with them to complete the application, and secure the two additional references.
· Follow through on the application progress to ensure process completion.
· Shape your application to highlight your technical strengths and significant career achievements.
We encourage all Huntsville Section members to help identify those who should be recognized, including self-nominations. Contact anyone on the Membership Committee or Executive Committee for further information and help in initiating and following through with the nomination process.
