Robotics Committee News
The Huntsville Section funded two UAH Student Chapter projects following an excellent written and oral presentation by the UAH Charger IEEE Chapter team members. One of the grants supports the UAH entry in the 2006 SoutheastCon in Memphis, for which the students will develop robotic hardware/software, build a team website, and develop and present a professional paper at the conference. The Section also awarded a grant to the 2006 Firefighter Competition team, consisting of UAH freshmen and sophomore engineering students competing in a contest new to Huntsville Section participation. Both teams did an great job of responding to the Section Request for Proposal and showed ample evidence of engineering commitment to building winning entries for their respective contests.
The UAH Student Chapter website is at http://ieee.uah.edu/, which list chapter officers and members. Boeing engineer Aaron Mosher will deliver a presentation to the chapter on Friday, December 18th, at 4:30 PM in the UAH Engineering Building 2nd floor conference room (EB258). Aaron will be discussing the work that he did on the DARPA Grand Challenge, working on the Carnegie Mellon Red Team to build two fully autonomous Humvees, picking up a couple of patents and a conference best paper award along the route.
