Abstract: | Risk is characterized by the combination of a probability or likelihood that an enterprise or entity will experience an undesired event with associated adverse consequences. Continuous Risk Management (CRM) is an iterative process of identifying, analyzing, planning, tracking, controlling, documenting and communicating risks to reduce the likelihood and/or severity of the risks. Project & program risk increases as NASA strives to develop new technologies to enhance life here on earth and to extend our reach to worlds beyond. Risks increase and more sophistication is required to manage those project and program risks. To ensure project & program success, NASA CRM must become an area of emphasis of everyday business within the agency. Risk management should be an ongoing and sustainable process. While there is no one set of special methods or tools that will work for every project, there are key principals to follow, adapt and apply to your project. These principals are embodied in the Continuous Risk Management paradigm. We will discuss in detail the CRM paradigm. |
