Hello Everyone,
Congratulations to all of the 2005 Graduating Students.
In this month’s edition, the Computer Society is planning a meeting for June 21. The Huntsville Simulation Conference announcement is also posted. The GOLD committee is planning an Education Fair for those considering graduate school and continuing education classes including distance learning.
A couple of UAH Professional Development short courses are also highlighted and the lecturer is planning to present at an IEEE meeting. Details are being finalized. Additionally, Bob Robinson, our Communications and Robotics Committee Chair, is featured in our Meet The ExCom series.
In May the SoutheastCon 2008 Committee held a kick-off meeting to start work on planning the conference. The kick-off went well, with lots of great participation from the committee. Conference General Chair Dr. Reza Adhami and General Co-Chairs Eric Grigorian and myself made presentations. Representatives from the Huntsville Visitors Bureau, UAH and Alabama A&M were present along with several ExCom members. Everyone was excited to see this progressing.
The Area 6 meeting was held in Birmingham on May 10. For those who are not familiar with the organization of IEEE, Region 3 is the Southeast, and Area 6 consists of Alabama and Mississippi. The Alabama Section and Mississippi Section were represented at the meeting, along with our Area 6 Chair Elizabeth Kuhn. The Mobile Section was not represented and we discussed a plan to help get them active again. If anyone knows someone in Mobile who might be interested in helping to get the Section active again, please let me know.
