Chair’s Corner

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a great Easter. This past month Educational Activities were our priority. We have two very exciting upcoming meetings that are highlighted this month from the AES and EMC societies. Additionally, back to our Meet the ExCom series, is Wayne Wolf. Some comments about Offshoring are shared from IEEE-USA. Some information for our Life Members will also be shared.

The Regional Science Fair was very exciting. Frank Parris has prepared a summary of the projects we awarded at the Regional Science Fair at Calhoun Community College. The judges were Frank Parris, Willie Fitzpatrick, and myself. The ACEF Technology Fair and Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF) were held last week.

I would like to add a comment to our Life Members within the Section. The idea of forming a Life Members Affinity Group has been mentioned. We have a lot of possible participants and I think that this group has the potential to do some great things for our Section. If you are interested in forming a Life Member Affinity Group, please let me know and we can start a petition to form the group.

I am preparing for SoutheastCon 2005. I will be defending our bid for SoutheastCon 2008 there as well as attending Regional Activities. The bid has received favorable reaction, but there is a lot of work to do if it is approved. If you are interested in participating in the planning of SoutheastCon 2008, please let me know.

There will be no May 4 Executive Committee meeting, please attend Buddy's Meeting on May 3 instead.

Sincerely,

Keith Jadus
