Chair’s Corner
Hello Everyone,
Welcome back everyone. This month has been another busy and fun one. I hope you enjoyed meeting our ExCom members last month, we will continue it again in April. This month, however, I am proud to introduce our Awardees from the Engineer’s Week banquet I had the pleasure to attend.
Our awardees for our usual categories are as follows. Our Outstanding Engineer is Robert Robinson, who has recently signed up to help us with Robotics particularly at UAH this year in preparing for SoutheastCon. Our Outstanding Educator is Dr. Fat Duen Ho, which was an honor for me to award him, as he was one of my graduate professors at UAH. Ronald Hackett is our Outstanding Service awardee, and very deserving.
This year we opened up a new category of awards. We will now be honoring a student member as the Outstanding Student from their school for both UAH and Alabama A&M. This year’s recipients were Matt McDoogle from UAH and Christopher Payne from Alabama A&M. Congratulations to both of them on their hard work.
Additionally, during Engineer’s Week I had the opportunity to help out with MATHCOUNTS, which was a very rewarding activity. There are a lot of great educators and engineers involved in that program.
I would also like to announce that this month the Huntsville Section has submitted a bid to host the 2008 Southeast Conference in Huntsville. Thanks to the efforts of Eric Grigorian, we have a very impressive proposal for hosting the conference and have support from both UAH and Alabama A&M. We will be looking for volunteers to help prepare for this over the next few years so let us know if you are interested in participating.
Sincerely,
Keith Jadus
