Tri-Service Waveform Diversity Workshop

Dear Colleague:

The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the Third Tri-Service Waveform Diversity Workshop, which will be hosted by the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command (SMDC) from 15-16 March 2005. It will be held at the Huntsville Hilton 15-16 March 2005. There will be a conference registration fee of $200 for those who register by 18 Feb 2005, $225.00 for those who register from 18 Feb to 11 March 2005, and $250.00 for on-site registrants. The conference fee will include lunch and two breaks on the 15^th and the 16th, as well as participation in a social dinner event on the 15^th.

A block of rooms is being held at the Huntsville Hilton, Huntsville AL with special conference rates. The government rate is $65.00 (per night plus applicable tax), and the corporate rate is $85.00 standard and $95 king (per night plus applicable tax). For hotel accommodations, call (256) 533-1400 and please refer to the Waveform Workshop room block. Please note that the block of rooms is being held by the hotel until 15 February 2005. After 15 Feb, reservations and rates cannot be guaranteed.

Hardware advances in waveform generation, timing and control, and signal/data processing have greatly increased the performances of radar and communications systems. These hardware advances allow significantly more flexibility in modulation for both radar and communication signals. This improved flexibility coupled with dynamic reprogrammability, results in the capability of generating adaptive waveforms that optimize a user’s specific application. Moreover, improved analog-to-digital (A/D) converters and integrated analog circuitry allow direct digital synthesis of signals without the need for complex mixing stages and baseband processing. Finally, the phase accuracy in radar and communications transceivers improves system performance in both the temporal and spatial domains. Such technological advances in processing and device design are what make waveform diversity possible.
