Chair’s Corner
Hello Everyone,
Welcome back after the holiday season. I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday with family and friends, as did I. Now it’s time to go back to work and start the New Year. I hope 2005 will be an exciting year for the Huntsville Section.
We have a new slate of officer’s this year so let me start by introducing them:
| Chair | Keith Jadus | U.S. Army AMRDEC | ||
| Vice Chair | Dr. Willie Fitzpatrick | U.S. Army AMRDEC | ||
| Treasurer | Courtney (Mount) Spivey | Boeing (also GOLD Chair) | ||
| Secretary | Will Goins | TBE (also GOLD Vice Chair) | ||
| Member at Large | Wayne Wolf | U.S. Army AMCOM | ||
| Member at Large | Frank Parris | Sverdrup |
I have a tough act to follow with Sonya as our outgoing chair. In 2004, the IEEE Huntsville Section celebrated its 50th Anniversary. In 2003, the IEEE Radar Conference was held in Huntsville as well as AUTOTESTCON in 2002.
My first goal as chair is to try to increase both the awareness of the benefits of IEEE membership and improve the value of membership through the Section. The key to ensuring the duration of the Section is through our student membership, and I hope to ensure that we can retain our student members. Our UAH Student Branch is active and has many events during the year. They compete annually in the IEEE hardware competition at SoutheastCon, and the section has been supporting this event. The other key to ensuring our membership is through programs at the K-12 level. The IEEE supports the regional and state Science Fairs. We also support HATS’ STEDTRAIN (Science and Technology EDucation and TRAINing) seed grants. Another key to increasing the awareness of the Section is through our programs. With six IEEE Society Chapters, GOLD and the Huntsville Section programs, we have the potential for some very valuable and informative technical programs that will draw awareness of the IEEE and the Huntsville Section.
I look forward to seeing you all throughout this year at any of our business, technical or social events. My wish for our Section and all of you is to have a great and prosperous 2005!
Sincerely,
Keith Jadus
