Now is the time to get involved. Becoming a Section or Chapter Officer is a great way to learn leadership skills. If you learn how to get volunteers to follow your direction you will find it much easier to get coworkers and subordinates to follow you. If you make a few mistakes while you are learning it won't affect your pay check or your job security.

If you are already a leader, please consider becoming an officer and mentor those who are learning by your example. Who knows, you may find some diamonds in the rough that you might want to add to your team at work.

Becoming active in the IEEE is a great way to network. It is well known that the best jobs are usually filled before they are ever advertised, even if there is a requirement for a formal job posting.
