Chairman’s Corner

Hello Everyone,

Well it’s October now and it seems like this year has just flown by. We’ve had several technical meetings that were very well attended. The EMS Chapter will have its Kick-Off meeting this month with a great keynote speaker, so we look forward to seeing you all there.

This month we will focus on our Senior Members! Becoming an IEEE Senior Member is one of the most important things that you can do as a Electrical or Computer Engineer. Senior Member status is recognition by your peers of career achievement and contribution to the profession. Many of you have been emailing me and asking me how to go about getting an upgrade to Senior status. You are eligible if you are a member with 10 years of paid membership (which may include college years.) Non-members may apply directly as a Senior Member if they have had at least ten years work experience. All applications must be accompanied with three Senior Member or higher-grade references. If you meet these criteria, then this is what you should do. Contact our IEEE Huntsville Membership Director, Woody Williams at: woody@imagefactorsouth.com He has agreed to be a nominator for many of our members.

Good luck on your Senior Member application submission and we look forward to seeing all of our new Senior Members at our IEEE Huntsville Section meetings!
