The 2004 Region 3 Meeting was held March 26-28 in Greensboro, NC along with SouthEastCon 2004. Our new Region 3 Chair Bill Harrison from the Atlanta Section led the meeting. Some projects the Region is working on include Leadership by Developing Others (LDO), Public Information and Image Enhancement of the IEEE, and Industry Relations. Several training sessions were available. The Pre-College Education Session had some good information about programs that help influence students to study science and engineering. Here is an example of the programs presented, http://www.ieee.org/museum more information will follow on these programs. The membership session discussed the concerns of a decrease in membership across the IEEE this year, including in Huntsville. The R3 and Huntsville membership committees are working to keep this trend from continuing.

The Student Competitions are also held at SouthEastCon. The UAH Student Branch participated in the Hardware Competition, but there are other competitions including Paper, Software, Web, T-Shirt, and more.
