AAMU IEEE Student Branch Activities
The AAMU Chapter meets weekly on Monday afternoon at 4:00pm in the study room at the Engineering & Technology Building (ETB) Library.
A general meeting was held 22 September 2003 with the goal of soliciting new members.
AAMU EE Chapter was granted a spot on the Homecoming Parade List for 4 October 2003. The members elected a Queen, obtained a new Ford Sports Utility Vehicle provided by the local Ford dealership, decorated it to advertise the IEEE Student Chapter, and drove it in the Homecoming parade displaying the Queen. Woody Anderson Ford provided the vehicle, and decorations were donated by Wal-Mart.
A main focus this year is to increase membership in the Chapter. The next item high on the agenda is to assist the AAMU EE Department in recruiting top and motivating scientific minded students from Huntsville and the surrounding area to consider engineering as a career. We are in the process of setting up dates with several local high school counselors for visiting the schools. Other items on our agenda for this year include, fund raising, continuing recruitment, a Library book campaign, and an AAMU IEEE booklet for publication.
The next general meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday November 6, 2003 in the ETB auditorium. We have invited several local high schools to participate with us.
