Hello Everyone,
O.K. my first month as your new Chairperson went very well. Now let's keep the momentum going. There's much to do this year, so we need your help. Some of our loyal members who have served for several years have been called to do other things with their lives. So this is a call for those of you who have watched the IEEE Huntsville Section function from the sidelines. Well now it's time for you to get involved and let some of our senior members sit on the bench and cheer us on. (Do you like my "Super Bowl" analogies? I'm not a big sports fan, but I thought these words might touch the hearts of many of you.)
So let me tell you about all the first string positions that we need to fill right now. Hopefully, you will heed the call and contact me about one of them.
- Chairperson for the Educational Activities Committee (Help judge science fairs and support other activities with local primary and secondary schools.)
- Chairperson of the Publicity Committee (Get our activities mentioned in the Times and on the radio.)
- Vice Chairperson of the GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) Committee (Help the Chairperson organize social and technical activities for recent graduates.)
- Chairperson of the Section's JCAM chapter (Joint chapter of the Communications Society, and the Antennas and Propagation Society, and the Microwave Theory and Techniques Societies (Organize two to six technical meetings relating to JCAM.)
- Vice Chairperson of the Section's JCAM chapter (Assist the Chairperson.)
- Vice Chairperson of the Section's chapter of the Aerospace Electronics and Systems Society (Assist the Chairperson in organizing two to six technical meetings relating to aerospace electronics and systems.)
- Chairperson of the Professional Activities Committee (Organize two to six meetings relating to employment issues.)
- Vice Chairperson of the Professional Activities Committee (Assist the Chairperson.)
- Member of the 50th Anniversary Committee (Help plan our 50th birthday events.)
- HATS Representative (Minimal work involved, attend one meeting every three months or so and represent the Section.)
- HATS Alternate (Even less work, fill in when the regular representative cannot make a meeting.)
If you are interested in any of the above opportunities, we have people who can show you the ropes and help you get started. All the above positions involve a commitment of just one year and with any of them you can do a small amount of work or you can enlarge the scope of activities if you find it rewarding.
Thanks in advance for those who wish to join our team and help support the IEEE Huntsville Section.Sincerely,
Sonya Hutchinson
2003 IEEE Huntsville Section Chair
