Old Computers Gathering Dust?

Do you or your company have old computers and peripheral equipment tying up valuable space?

Would you like to help the educational system in a former Soviet Block country and thereby help freedom flourish there?

Some people in Pennsylvania have formed a non-profit organization, the Kobzar Society Ltd., to collect used computer hardware, modify it for use in Eastern Europe, and ship it to the Ukraine. Their goal is "To foster and promote solutions by linking Ukraine’s schools, universities, libraries, cultural, scientific and artistic institutions to the international marketplace of ideas."

For obvious reasons, they request donations of first generation Pentium 1computers, or later models, and comparable vintage Macs and peripherals. It costs about $200 to prepare and ship each computer and another $300 each for Internet access per year. Financial donations are also gratefully accepted.

Rotary Clubs in Northern Pennsylvania are assisting in the operations here, and Rotary Clubs and other charitable organizations in the Ukraine are administering the program there.
