The Executive Committee of the IEEE Huntsville Section has selected Mark Smith, founder, Chairman of the Board, and CEO of ADTRAN, Inc. as its 2001 Professional of the Year. The award will be presented at a banquet held at the Huntsville Hilton on 16 May 2001, in conjunction with the E2TEAMS (a TABES activity). He was selected because of his outstanding accomplishments in the field of data telecommunications, and his contributions to the economic and community development of Huntsville.
